About Projektron GmbH
Simplify complexity, automate business processes, and inspire project teams. This has been our vision since our founding in 2001. Since then, Projektron GmbH, our employees, and our product, BCS (Business Coordination Software), have continued to evolve. We show where we come from, where we are going, and what we stand for.
Innovative, platform-independent, and ideally adaptable to the needs of every project and every company. This was the mission of Maik Dorl, Dr. Marten Huisinga, and Jörg Cohrs in the fall of 2000, when the three founders set to work in the Kreuzberg district of Berlin. The first version of BCS was delivered to the first customers shortly after the founding of Projektron GmbH in February 2001. And it was impressive, because until then, browser-based project management had not existed. The first award was not long in coming: the Internet World Award in the “Best Application” category was the first honor in what has since become a well-filled and repeatedly expanded trophy cabinet.
Since then, Projektron has grown continuously and has developed into one of the leading providers of project management software in Germany.
Continuous growth under our own steam
To this day, the signs point to constant, continuous, and sustainable growth. Neither the bursting of the internet bubble in 2001, nor the financial and economic crisis starting in 2008, nor the coronavirus crisis could put a damper on this development. On the contrary: especially in times of tight budgets, BCS was able to play to its strengths and ease the cost pressure on our customers. The software’s range of functions expanded module by module, feature by feature.
As the number of customers increased, so did the number of employees and locations. In 2005, we opened our first location outside Berlin in Munich. Just one year later, the third location opened in Hamburg; in 2015, we inaugurated our Stuttgart office, followed by our Würzburg office in 2022. The aim of expanding with Projektron representatives at various locations is to provide our customers with the best possible service and expert consulting on site.
Our headquarters in Berlin also continued to develop: with the move to a modern office building in the Mitte district in 2010, it was significantly expanded. This strategy remains a complete success to this day.
Owner-managed family business
Projektron GmbH is an owner-managed family business. Maik Dorl is one of the founders of Projektron GmbH and remains Managing Director of the owner-managed company to this day. Since its founding, the company has grown without external capital. The next generation is now also actively involved in corporate leadership: his two sons, Francisco Josué Gutendorf, who has served as an additional Managing Director since 2023, and Lucas Dorl Artaza, authorized signatory and Chief Product Owner.
This entrepreneurial independence and continuity shape Projektron: long-term thinking, reliable customer relationships, sustainable growth, and responsible conduct toward employees, customers, and partners are at the heart of the company.

Growing, working, living: our corporate culture
Our vibrant corporate culture is the result of dedicated HR work that has been successful for over 20 years. From the very beginning, the demand for excellence and equal opportunities has been important. The proportion of women at Projektron is above average for a company in the ITC sector. More than half of the employees work less than 40 hours a week and more than 90 percent of the employees have a university degree. Projektron has a low turnover rate.

Our product: BCS
BCS is a comprehensive business coordination software that has much more to offer than just project management software. With its wide range of additional functions, BCS is a fully-fledged ERP for service providers. With BCS, you can manage your projects
according to various project management methods such as Scrum, PRINCE2, IPMA, GPM, Hermes or BPMN 2.0,
plan in detail,
execute them in a structured way,
evaluate them meticulously and
precisely account for them.
In BCS you manage
customer and supplier data,
digital employee files and documents,
created and received quotations and invoices,
recorded attendance and working times, vacation budgets and working time models.
Thanks to its modular design and a wide range of interfaces, you can flexibly integrate the software into your existing organizational structure. All project members can access their project data via their browser, regardless of their location. In addition, we provide company-wide functions to support your personnel management, for example, or to enable you to work according to Scrum or with tickets. BCS is available in ten languages and is supplemented by comprehensive documentation and AI help.
In addition to the software, Projektron GmbH offers extensive services. These range from intensive customer support to target group-specific BCS training courses and individual workshops to appropriate user support in the support department.
Globally active corporations such as ZF Friedrichshafen AG and Volkswagen trust BCS, as do medium-sized companies and public institutions. In addition to IT system houses and multimedia agencies, consulting companies and research institutions also plan their projects with our BCS.
BCS.light is the product variant specifically designed for smaller agencies, small businesses, organizations with a lower project volume, and individual departments of larger organizations. This affordable and streamlined edition covers important work processes – from quotations to invoicing.

Since the company was founded, we have been able to enjoy a wealth of different honors, prizes and awards for Projektron GmbH - both for our software and for our human resources work. However, we interpret these prizes and awards not only as recognition for services rendered, but above all as an incentive to constantly develop and improve even further.

We have been recognized by Great Place to Work for all participations and for the tenth time in 2026.
In 2023, we received the VQB quality award for the third time, this time with the “Outstanding Excellence” rating.
In 2021, we received the TOTAL E-QUALITY award for equal opportunities for the fourth time and again the additional award for diversity.
In 2016, Projektron received the award as the most family-friendly company in the state-wide competition "Unternehmen für Familie - Berlin" (Companies for the Family - Berlin).
In 2016, we also won the BestPersAward for professional and sustainable HR work for the third time in a row.
