Success story from Information Service Center WBF ISCeco

After our project managers had already used the planning functions before, all our employees have been using the activity time recording in Projektron BCS since March 2010. The product was widely accepted after a short time and has proven itself over the years as a reliable partner in everyday work. In the meantime, the system forms the basis of numerous processes and evaluations in the areas of project management, customer support, controlling and management. Particularly important for us is the uncomplicated flexibility that BCS offers in configuring the user interface, adding new fields and retrieving data.

As the IT service provider of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER), the Information Service Center (ISCeco) focuses on the integration, operation and support of the IT applications of affiliated federal offices.

ISCeco supports more than 2,000 users in the competence areas of Economy and Labour, Education, Research and Innovation, Housing, Civil Service, Agriculture and Veterinary Affairs. In addition, the Federal Chancellery is one of our customers.

For some years now, ISCeco has also been developing applications itself. In combination with externally commissioned projects with partners from the private sector, a large part of the IT needs of our service recipients can thus be covered.

Search for project management software

Before we decided to use the Projektron BCS project management software, we were already using software for project planning, time recording, resource management and billing. As we realised after some time that it was difficult to keep the structures of time recording and project planning congruent with this application, we suspended the software support for project planning and resource management. For the time being, we kept the time recording as the most important component for us.

In addition, we set up a Microsoft Access solution for invoicing because the software at that time could not meet our requirements in this respect. Further development and consolidation of the various components later proved to be too expensive. In addition, the handling of time recording never met with broad acceptance among our staff, so we started looking for a new, more innovative product.

Projektron BCS convinces with offer and service

In the end, we decided on Projektron BCS because the product covered our central needs and Projektron convinced us that it could also meet new requirements. Furthermore, the user-friendliness and the economical support model were coherent for us.

Conclusion and outlook

Since March 2010, we have been using Projektron BCS completely productively. We are currently using the time recording, holiday management, projects and products, quotation creation and part of the ticket system modules. We transfer financially relevant data from BCS to SAP via CSV export.

During the introduction phase and in the following years of operation, we were efficiently supported by Projektron either by telephone, remote maintenance or via the ticketing of the support server.

We are convinced that the acquisition of Projektron BCS was worthwhile for our organisation and are confident that we will also successfully tackle future challenges with this product.
