PPM practice test by CSP AG: Award for Projektron BCS

CSP AG's fourth PPM practice test once again underpinned the outstanding performance of Projektron BCS software. A total of 9 PPM providers were evaluated and compared within the scope of the test on the basis of predefined criteria. A positive aspect of the test was that, for the first time, the participants were given the opportunity to explore the various PPM software products in a hands-on test and to evaluate their personal impressions.

The planning and execution of a project can quickly take on dimensions that can no longer be clearly mapped even with tools such as Excel. With the help of special software, however, it is possible to face up to the task and manage the project efficiently. There are many solutions on the market for so-called project portfolio management (PPM).

In order to facilitate the quickly confusing selection of PPM software, CSP AG regularly conducts tests between the providers. CSP AG's fourth PPM practice test once again underlined the outstanding performance of Projektron BCS software.

A total of 9 PPM providers were evaluated and compared within the scope of the test on the basis of predefined criteria. In addition to Projektron BCS, Keto Platform, Microsoft Project, sciforma planisware Orchestra, PQFORCE, Daptiv PPM, Can Do and Clarity PPM were also represented, for example.

A positive aspect of the test was that, for the first time, the participants were given the opportunity to explore the various PPM software products in a hands-on test and to evaluate their personal impressions.

The test also included a tool presentation, in which each vendor presented its own PPM software based on defined function blocks.

The Event

The 4th PPM practice test took place on November 20, 2019 in Zurich. On the event day itself, the presented PPM tools could be compared live with each other based on given use cases. The participants received standardized evaluation grids for the assessment and also had the opportunity to ask critical questions.

All feedback and evaluations were compiled in a detailed practical report and subsequently made available to the participants free of charge.

Overall, the PPM practice test was a unique opportunity to intensively engage in the practice of PPM in exchange with other participants and to be inspired by various experience reports.

Focus

The focus of the PPM Practice Test 2019 has been deliberately placed on the topics of effective tool use and usability (operation and user-friendliness).

CSP AG reports from its own practical experience in consulting that the question of effective "motivation to use tools" is becoming more and more central. The PPM practice test was therefore dedicated to this question in detail and helped to decide which possibilities exist in the area of PPM in the organization. The providers showed in a structured way which advantages their product offers in this respect.

For all those who were looking for a PPM tool for their organization, this event offered the perfect opportunity to test common solutions for their operation and user-friendliness and the ideal support for evaluating a suitable solution.

Evaluation results

The participants evaluated the PPM tools under the defined focus of the categories "benefit" and "usability". It was apparent from the evaluation that these categories were assessed differently depending on the experience of the evaluators. Projektron achieved the best ratings in both categories. In the benefit evaluation, Projektron BCS scored the highest number of points and won first place.

In the "Usability" category, Projektron BCS also received a very high score and secured a well-deserved second place. Projektron BCS was also convincing in the "individual disciplines". For example, the software also took 2nd place in the evaluation of the "Process efficiency" benefit dimension. Overall, Projektron BCS scored particularly well with companies that do not yet have any PPM tools in use.

Projektron BCS can be proud of the results achieved and has repeatedly proven that they are among the top players in the field of PPM software.
