The Gesellschaft für Telematikanwendungen der Gesundheitskarte mbH, or gematik for short, was founded in 2005 by the leading organizations in the German healthcare sector. The foundation follows the mandate of the legislator. The common goal is to network the various players in the German healthcare system. Today, around 260 IT experts, application specialists and project managers at gematik work hand in hand to create an electronically networked healthcare system that facilitates qualitative, transparent and economical treatment and care for patients.
