Social Engagement Day: Projektron promotes community action

Starting this year, all Projektron employees have the opportunity to use one workday for social engagement. Initial experiences show that the social day is effective—it creates encounters, enables participation, and supports initiatives that strengthen our society.

Why we introduced the day for social engagement

Social interaction thrives on people getting involved. At the same time, many people find it difficult to find time for voluntary work or charitable activities in their everyday working lives. With the new Day of Social Engagement, we want to give our employees the freedom they need to actively and easily contribute to the common good.
The day can be used flexibly and, if necessary, spread over several assignments. One thing is particularly important to us: commitment should be possible and tangible – without additional hurdles.

Social engagement enriches our everyday working lives:  social work away from the desk opens up new perspectives. Employees get to know other working environments, meet people from different backgrounds, and get involved where help is needed most. These experiences have a positive impact:

they strengthen team spirit,

promote a sense of responsibility, and

broaden awareness of social issues.

First projects: blood donation, school campaigns, bazaars, and community events

The first few months since the introduction of the social tag show how wide-ranging the commitment of Projektronis is. The following examples provide an insight into the diversity of activities.

Blood donation campaign: Working together for medical care

A blood donation campaign initiated by Projektron was very well received and impressively demonstrated the level of commitment and sense of responsibility shown by employees. Numerous Projektron employees took the opportunity to donate blood together, thereby making an important contribution to healthcare. This was particularly remarkable during the cold season, because despite many potential obstacles, numerous interested parties were actually able to donate blood—every single donation counts and can save lives in acute emergency situations.

The blood donation campaign also offered the opportunity to network as a team, exchange experiences, and raise awareness of the importance of regular donations. The positive response was overwhelming: many participants reported motivating conversations and the good feeling of being able to help immediately. Based on this feedback and the great commitment of the employees, further joint blood donation dates are already planned in order to consolidate the campaign in the long term and support even more people in need.

Supporting an Advent bazaar: Practical help for a good cause

An employee used his social day to actively support a large Advent bazaar. The work was physically demanding and involved emptying a large church hall, assembling furniture, setting up around 50 clothes racks, and sorting well over 100 boxes of clothing, books, and household goods. He also helped set up the sales stands, label the areas, and coordinate the volunteers present to ensure that the event ran smoothly.

The bazaar is one of the largest in the region and attracts numerous visitors every year. The proceeds go toward the parish's youth work, among other things, supporting projects that benefit children and young people. The employee's commitment illustrates how direct local support sustainably strengthens social projects, promotes community, and at the same time provides practical help for organizationally demanding events.

Accompanying a lantern parade: safety and community for families

Another social initiative led to a primary school organizing a large lantern parade. Thanks to the social day, an employee was able to spend an afternoon supporting the event team together with volunteers from the fire department, police, civil defense, and THW youth. She helped set up the lanterns and stands, organize the route, and look after the children during the parade, ensuring that the event ran smoothly.

The event offered children and parents a varied program: music, punch, a campfire, insights into emergency vehicles, and finally a parade through the neighborhood accompanied by emergency services. At the end, the school and the booster club warmly thanked all the helpers for their active support. The assignment impressively demonstrates how important volunteer help is for community events in order to ensure safety, organization, and enjoyment for all involved.

Support for a charity run: Commitment to education and advancement

A charity run at a high school also received support from the social day. Around 700 students ran throughout the day for a newly founded support association, whose funds benefit the school and promote various local projects.

The employee helped organize the event, assisted in setting up the stations, took care of the catering, and coordinated the proceedings. When a storm suddenly rolled in, everything had to be dismantled at short notice and spontaneously continued in a gym, which was a real feat for the entire team of helpers. Despite the adverse conditions, the charity run was successfully completed. The commitment of the helpers played a decisive role in enabling the students to achieve their goals and the support association to receive valuable assistance.

Craft magic at elementary school: Creative Advent activity

On Social Day, a Projektron employee actively participated in an elementary school's Advent celebration. He set up several craft stations where children could make snowmen out of paper plates and decorate cookies. For the event, he prepared around 60 different templates and baked tons of cookies, which were then decorated together.

In addition to the crafts, the employee also helped decorate the classroom, brought materials to the individual stations, and ensured a structured process so that the children could work creatively without interruption. He set the right mood with a cheerful Christmas playlist. It became particularly clear how much such activities motivate children to work together, contribute their own ideas, and support each other.

Advent celebration for seniors: Practical help and shared joy

On Social Day, two Projektron employees went above and beyond to support the senior citizens in their community. They organized an Advent celebration, transported hundreds of kilograms of beverages, coordinated 30–40 volunteers, and took care of setting up, dismantling, and washing up. They also helped decorate the premises, set up tables and seating, and ensured that everything ran smoothly.

The event brought seniors and helpers together, provided space for conversation, music, and socializing, and made the Advent celebration a lively experience. The local involvement created a warm atmosphere in which community and joy were palpable. The event impressively demonstrates how diverse social support can be and how important direct help is for people in the community.

What forms of social engagement does Projektron support?

Whether it's manual labor, educational support, or community service, Social Day can be used in many different ways. Examples include:

Renovating a daycare center, school, or retirement home

Election campaigning

Crafting, reading, or playing with children or seniors

Supporting animal shelters or other animal welfare organizations

Planting trees or participating in nature conservation projects

Donating blood

Employees can also get together and organize a social day as part of a team event.

Taking responsibility together

Social Day is not an extra day off, but a sign of active responsibility. The projects demonstrate how much Projektron employees can achieve when they are given the opportunity to do so: they support schools, communities, families, and medical care.

We look forward to continuing to promote projects that strengthen our society and further develop team spirit within our company. Social Day is only one part of our commitment to society, sustainability, and the common good.

As a company, we have been taking responsibility for many years, not only through the volunteer work of our employees, but also through structural, long-term measures: Projektron GmbH donates 1% of the previous year's profits annually. With this fixed contribution, we support organizations that are committed to biodiversity, social projects, and environmental protection. The projects are carefully selected based on research, exchange, and internal participation. Employees can submit suggestions for donation recipients and thus actively participate in shaping our commitment.

If you would like to learn more about the twelve projects we supported in 2025, you can find all the information on our “Social Commitment” page.
