Profile
The district of Böblingen is located in the south-western part of Baden-Württemberg and belongs to the Stuttgart metropolitan region. With an area of 618 km², it is the smallest district in the Stuttgart region and comprises 26 towns and municipalities, including the district towns of Böblingen, Sindelfingen, Leonberg and Herrenberg.
The economy is export-oriented, particularly in the automotive industry, information and communication technology, and engineering services. There are two federal motorways, several federal roads, a connection to the international long-distance rail network and Stuttgart Airport.
The district of Böblingen's work focuses on the digitisation of administration and the expansion of the fibre optic network. In addition, the expansion and electrification of the Schönbuchbahn railway is being pushed forward, while measures to modernise and renovate regional hospitals are being implemented.
