Social Day in Action: Projektron Employees Support Democratic Processes
Projektron’s Social Day gives our employees the opportunity to actively engage with socially relevant issues. In addition to social, educational, or charitable projects, this also includes supporting democratic processes. Two recent examples illustrate just how diverse this commitment can be: serving as election workers during international elections in Berlin.
Support for the parliamentary elections in Bulgaria
On April 19, 2026, early parliamentary elections were held in Bulgaria—the eighth such election since 2021. Following a prolonged period of political instability, there was once again the prospect of a stable government.
Citizens living abroad were also called upon to vote. At the Bulgarian Embassy in Berlin, a Projektron employee volunteered as an election worker as part of his community service day. Between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., the volunteers assisted with the voting process and ensured that everything ran smoothly.
Around 800 votes were cast at the polling station alone. The assignment included on-site organization, assisting voters, and ensuring a proper election process. Several Projektron employees also took the opportunity to cast their votes.
Serving as an election worker in Peru's general elections
General elections had already taken place in Peru a week earlier, on April 12, 2026. With a total of 35 candidates running for president, a historic record was set, leading to an exceptionally high voter turnout.
A Projektron employee served as an election worker at the Peruvian Embassy in Berlin that day. The assignment began early in the morning and lasted into the night—from 6:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. the following day.
Tasks included setting up the election infrastructure, assisting voters in casting their ballots, and the subsequent counting of votes. Due to the large number of candidates and election categories, the ballot was an unusually large format. In total, more than 27 million eligible voters were called upon to participate.
Commitment to democratic participation
These two examples illustrate that the Social Day not only supports traditional social projects but can also help strengthen democratic processes. Working as an election official requires a high degree of responsibility, precision, and perseverance—qualities that our employees actively bring to the table.
At the same time, these assignments offer a change of perspective: they provide insights into international electoral processes, foster an understanding of political systems, and demonstrate how important volunteer work is to the functioning of democratic structures.
Social Engagement That Makes a Difference
Projektron’s Social Day creates opportunities for exactly these kinds of experiences. It makes it easy to get involved and lend a hand where help is most needed—whether in the social, environmental, or community spheres.
The experience of serving as election workers clearly demonstrates that even a single day can make a valuable contribution—to the community, to democratic processes, and to a better understanding of global interconnections.
More insights into a typical day at Projektron
Volunteering at election sites is just one example of the many ways to make the most of Projektron’s Social Day. Whether through blood drives, school projects, community events, or providing hands-on support on the ground, our employees contribute to the common good in a wide variety of ways.
