The five process groups according to PMBOK® Guide: With BCS through the entire project
The PMBOK® Guide up to and including the 6th edition divides projects into five process groups – from initiation to completion. Even though the seventh edition has shifted the emphasis towards principles and performance domains, the process groups remain a proven guide to project workflow for many users. Definition and planning

PMBOK Guide 7th and 8th edition – implement the 12 universal principles and 8 performance domains with BCS
The areas of knowledge contained in the first six editions were converted into 12 universal principles and 8 performance domains in Edition 7.
While the principles define the value-based framework (e.g., responsibility, stakeholder orientation, quality), the performance domains represent specific subject areas in which these principles take effect in the project environment, such as team leadership, planning, value delivery, and risk management.
