Bowas-Induplan builds chemical plants worldwide. The projects can be very demanding and require the highest level of precision to ensure that the plant complexes work together as planned. To meet all requirements, Bowas-Induplan has been using Projektron BCS since 2013.
About Bowas-Induplan Chemie Ges.m.b.H.
We are a well-established engineering and plant construction company based in Salzburg. We deal with the planning and distribution of chemical plants on international markets. During our almost 50-year existence, we have completed almost 300 projects in approx. 40 countries. Our staff consists of 27 people on average.
Our main business is the sale of our know-how as engineers as well as the planning and supervision of the construction of so-called turn-key projects.
Introduction Projektron BCS
We decided on Projektron BCS in 2013 after our requirements for a project management tool far exceeded what was available from standard tools. Our specifications required software that could display work packages with milestones and costs as well as the hours spent on them.
During the selection process, various providers were considered. Due to its versatility and adaptability, our choice fell on Projektron BCS. A main criterion for BCS was the detailed project planning included in BCS, which is necessary for our projects. Furthermore, it includes an interface to Microsoft Project, which is essential for the exchange with our customers.
Projektron BCS quickly became the leading tool for time recording and holiday management for the entire company, including a comprehensive address system.
Project planning with work packages at document level
Especially for engineering, the creation of work packages at document level is crucial. From the detailed project planning with milestones and work packages as well as an hourly and cost control, BCS also integrated the documentation of the time recording of the entire company. The calendar including holiday management is the leading attendance tool.
The interface and import and export to and from Microsoft Project were also important for us, as this is the favourite tool of our cooperation partners and customers.
The planning of our projects is based on the contracts or the contract schedule on the one hand, and on the required documents and - if also sold - hardware components on the other. Team planning is greatly facilitated by the mapped resource utilisation of internal tasks as well as other projects.
The complete implementation of Projektron BCS was somewhat delayed due to internal changes. During this time, we were always fully supported by Projektron BCS staff during training sessions, both in-house and at Projektron's premises.
The clear and simple operation as well as the extensive help texts in the software, together with the detailed training documents in paper form, round off the complete package.
The future is blue
For future use, we are planning to link our time monitoring with Projektron on the administrative level as well as the complete digitalisation of all internal approval processes. At the project planning level, project controlling is to be further expanded. We plan to do this in the form of reports and detailed material cost overviews for better comparison of calculations and budgets to actual values.
Our conclusion
Projektron BCS is a multifunctional, in many parts self-explanatory, extremely patient project planning tool that, on closer inspection, can do much more than project planning.
