BG Clinics IT Services – IT solutions for patient
BG Clinics is a Germany-wide network of clinics consisting of nine acute care clinics, a clinic for occupational diseases, a rehabilitation clinic and two outpatient clinics. Our focus is on acute care and rehabilitation for seriously injured and occupationally ill people, enabling them to return to everyday life in the best possible way. With over 18,000 employees and a large number of specialists, we offer a wide range of medical services – from initial care after accidents to occupational and social rehabilitation. Our main clientele comprises patients who have been seriously injured at work or during their leisure time.
Our mission is to ensure the highest level of care for our patients and to continuously improve it through innovative treatment methods. We attach great importance to close cooperation between the various medical and therapeutic departments in order to develop holistic and individual treatment plans.
BG Kliniken IT-Services gGmbH is the central IT service provider for BG Kliniken. Our mission is to drive forward digital transformation and provide a stable, secure, and future-proof IT infrastructure.
We support the clinics in optimizing their medical and administrative processes with customized IT solutions and continuously improving the quality of patient care. The IT Project Management department pursues the goal of establishing excellence in project management both centrally and decentrally, as well as implementing complex digitization projects together with our clinics. The aim is to create a strong foundation that meets the high demands of the healthcare sector.
Implementing future-proof IT projects with centralized software

In an organisation as complex as BG Kliniken, where numerous IT projects run in parallel and the requirements of different departments must be coordinated, reliable project management software is essential. The introduction of a centralised solution became necessary in order to cope with the growing complexity of our IT projects, to meet increased requirements – such as those of the Hospital Future Act – and to provide the clinics with a professional, powerful tool.
Before the introduction of Projektron BCS, coordinating projects often involved a great deal of manual effort. This led to delays, a lack of clarity and difficulties in resource allocation. A tailor-made solution was needed to manage our large number of projects efficiently, plan resources in a more targeted manner and strengthen cross-team collaboration. With the introduction of specialised project management software, we want to overcome these challenges and create a solid foundation that will make future IT projects more transparent and efficient. The aim is to establish professional project management that offers our clinics real added value.
Projektron BCS impresses in evaluation
Our first contact with Projektron BCS came during an internal evaluation of various project management tools after we collectively decided that we wanted to establish a suitable tool. During this phase, we reviewed many providers and ultimately decided on a demonstration of Projektron BCS. The flexibility of the software and the ability to adapt BCS to our specific requirements impressed the project team, which consisted of representatives from the clinics' project management departments. We were particularly impressed by the fact that BCS is not only a tool for classic project management, but also supports portfolio management, which fits perfectly with our organisation.
The introduction of Projektron BCS was accompanied by intensive workshops in which we precisely defined the requirements of our IT projects. A particular focus was placed on project planning and the project portfolio. These functions were introduced in a pilot phase before the tool was rolled out clinic-wide. It quickly became apparent that Projektron BCS is a powerful tool for managing complex projects that significantly simplifies our workflows.

Transparency and control thanks to project management with Projektron BCS
Projektron BCS is currently the central tool for IT project management at BG Kliniken. We use it to plan and manage our IT projects, monitor milestones and record various requirements.
The integrated budgeting function is helpful, as it enables detailed cost control and accurate tracking of project progress. Centralised management of all project data and the ability to create custom dashboards and reports significantly increase transparency regarding the progress of our projects.
The reporting functions allow us to generate regular reports on project status for management and the various specialist departments, which simplifies and accelerates decision-making.
Projektron BCS gives us an overview of the financial management of our projects. Thanks to budget planning and cost analyses, we can identify deviations at an early stage and ensure cost-effectiveness. The central storage of all project documents simplifies teamwork.
The course has been set for data-based decisions
The introduction of Projektron BCS has significantly simplified our project landscape and helped us to make our IT processes more efficient. The comprehensive planning and control functions offer us a high degree of flexibility that is specifically tailored to our needs in the healthcare sector. In addition, for the first time we have the opportunity to obtain an overview of all projects and monitor them according to our specifications.
In future, we aim to make our project planning more efficient and sound by using Projektron's extensive data and analysis functions as a central basis. In this way, we want to ensure that decisions are made on the basis of data and that our planning processes become more transparent and targeted.
