Social Engagement Day: Projektron promotes community action
Starting this year, all Projektron employees have the opportunity to use one workday for social engagement. Initial experiences show that the social day is effective—it creates encounters, enables participation, and supports initiatives that strengthen our society.
Why we introduced the day for social engagement
Social interaction thrives on people getting involved. At the same time, many people find it difficult to find time for voluntary work or charitable activities in their everyday working lives. With the new Day of Social Engagement, we want to give our employees the freedom they need to actively and easily contribute to the common good.
The day can be used flexibly and, if necessary, spread over several assignments. One thing is particularly important to us: commitment should be possible and tangible – without additional hurdles.
Social engagement enriches our everyday working lives: social work away from the desk opens up new perspectives. Employees get to know other working environments, meet people from different backgrounds, and get involved where help is needed most. These experiences have a positive impact:
they strengthen team spirit,
promote a sense of responsibility, and
broaden awareness of social issues.
First projects: blood donation, school campaigns, bazaars, and community events
The first few months since the introduction of the social tag show how wide-ranging the commitment of the Projektronis is. Four examples provide an insight into the diversity of activities.
Blood donation campaign: Working together for medical care
A blood donation campaign initiated by Projektron was very well received. Numerous Projektron employees took the opportunity to donate together and thus make an important contribution to healthcare. Despite it being cold season, many of those interested were able to donate – every single donation counts and helps people in acute emergency situations.
The campaign received such positive feedback that further joint blood donation dates are already being planned.

Supporting an Advent bazaar: Practical help for a good cause
An employee used his social day to help out at a large Advent bazaar. The work was physically demanding and involved clearing out a large church hall, assembling furniture, setting up around 50 clothes racks, and sorting through well over 100 boxes of clothing, books, and household goods.
The bazaar is one of the largest in the region, and the proceeds go toward youth work in the community, among other things. This commitment shows how direct local support can strengthen social projects in the long term.

Accompanying a lantern parade: safety and community for families
Another social initiative involved a primary school that organized a large lantern parade. Thanks to the social day, one employee was able to spend an afternoon supporting the event team together with volunteers from the fire department, police, civil defense, and THW youth organization.
The event offered children and parents a colorful program: music, punch, a campfire, insights into emergency vehicles, and finally a parade through the neighborhood accompanied by emergency services. At the end, the school and the booster club expressed their heartfelt thanks to all the helpers. The initiative shows how important volunteer support is for such community events.

Support for a charity run: Commitment to education and advancement
A charity run at a high school was also supported by the social day. Around 700 students ran throughout the day for a newly founded support association, whose funds will benefit the school.
The employee supported the organization, helped with setting up, catering, and coordinating the event. When a storm suddenly rolled in, everything had to be dismantled at short notice and spontaneously continued in a gym – a real feat of strength for the entire team of helpers. Their commitment helped to ensure that the event was successfully completed despite the adverse circumstances.

What forms of social engagement does Projektron support?
Whether it's manual labor, educational support, or community service, Social Day can be used in many different ways. Examples include:
Renovating a daycare center, school, or retirement home
Election campaigning
Crafting, reading, or playing with children or seniors
Supporting animal shelters or other animal welfare organizations
Planting trees or participating in nature conservation projects
Donating blood
Employees can also get together and organize a social day as part of a team event.
Taking responsibility together
Social Day is not an extra day off, but a sign of active responsibility. The first four assignments illustrate how much Projektron employees can achieve when they are given the opportunity to do so: they support schools, communities, families, and medical care.
We look forward to continuing to promote projects that strengthen our society and further develop team spirit within our company. Social Day is only one part of our commitment to society, sustainability, and the common good.
As a company, we have been taking responsibility for many years, not only through the volunteer work of our employees, but also through structural, long-term measures: Projektron GmbH donates 1% of the previous year's profits annually. With this fixed contribution, we support organizations that are committed to biodiversity, social projects, and environmental protection. The projects are carefully selected based on research, exchange, and internal participation. Employees can submit suggestions for donation recipients and thus actively participate in shaping our commitment.
